Asphalt binders must meet AASHTO PP26 Superpave requirements in HMA production.

To meet these specs, contractors are required to follow proper QC procedures at the refinery distillation towers, at the mixing terminals, and certainly at the asphalt plant.

Storage tanks with improper mixing, inaccurate metering of modifiers, and operator inexperience can add to the likelihood of fluctuations in properties of binder going into the mix. By the time samples are drawn at the HMA plant, taken to the lab, and tested by Superpave binder methods, hours or days of improper mix may have been produced and placed.

The TT-100 In-Line Viscometer provides a method of binder control that is quick, easy, and delivers a continuous record of viscosity and temperature with time. Brookfield concentric cylinder rotational viscosity measurements have been shown to be reliable indicators of Superpave binder properties.

An HMA plant equipped with the In-Line Viscosity System gives instant detection of changes in time to make product adjustments and avoid penalties. The DOT can be given a hard copy record to demonstrate uniform binder properties throughout the construction project.

The TT-100® In-Line Viscometer is designed to provide years of trouble-free service in closed loop systems which require constant monitoring and associated control of product viscosity.

Continuous measurement eliminates need for "Grab" sampling and allows for prediction and constant control of final product properties and Concentric cylinder geometry (Couette type) provides viscosity measurments at defined shear conditions.

The unit's defined shear means agreement with Brookfield Laboratory measurements at equivalent shear rates. Mounts in-line supported by connections: Available in 1", 1½", 2", or 4" pipeline connections; sanitary, threaded or flanged.
